Vodium integrates Sail Labs’s Media Mining Indexer with the industry’s first Real-Time Text-Video Autosyncher™ for close captioning, transcription and subtitling

VIENNA, Austria & Washington DC, 4 June 2002: Washington D.C. based Vodium has developed the world’s first Real-Time fully automated Text-Video Synchronization application based upon the Speech Technology of Vienna, Austria based Sail Labs Technology. The Sail Labs Technology Media Mining Indexer converts audio input into a structured and summarized text format that can be searched for relevant information. The beginning and the end of each word in the text are provided with a time tag to mark the point of actual occurrence during a live presentation or broadcast. The Autosyncher™ publishes this information into Vodium’s Rich Media Content Delivery Platform, which serves as the premiere solution for online conferences, distance learning, corporate, and government communications applications.

Vodium’s MediaPod Player™is the most sophisticated presentation system available today for clients seeking to publish their events online. Vodium was recently awarded the TV Technology magazine’s Mario Award at the NAB for technical excellence in their products. The Autosyncher™ outputs synchronized audio, video and text, which allow users to quickly pinpoint areas of interest within online video presentations using full-text video search. In addition, clients can build libraries of content, which can be instantly searched across and repurposed. Integrating these features with PowerPoint slides, PDF reports, HTML and other web content, Vodium’s platform offers a truly empowering solution for event organizers. Moreover, the Autosyncher’s Real-Time capability means that Vodium’s customers can rapidly publish events online. This Just-in-Time delivery sets Vodium apart from other online content management publishers.

“The partnership between Vodium and Sail Labs Technology brings together perceptually different technologies to create a new synergistic solution. Sail Labs connects the rich content of visual information with text information, giving the user a complete synchronized experience. Vodium in turn facilitates the transmission of benefits of high end speech indexing to a broader community by offering the integrated solution as an ASP service,” says Dr Monika Kerbl,Vice President of Business Development at Sail Labs Technology.

Vodium is offering the Autosyncher™ as an ASP, making it easy for clients to use. Vodium’s solutions help private and public sector clients publish interactive audiovisual events on the Web. Government customers can deliver events for the hearing impaired that are fully Regulation 508 compliant through Vodium’s“autosynched” live closed-captioning offered in the EventViewerLive™.

“The integration of the AutoSyncher™ with Vodium’s production tools will make video indexing and online event production a snap,” said Cameron Clarke, Vodium CEO. “Vodium customers will be able to publish their own events as rapidly as we do, and that is exciting.”

Sail Labs Technology’s award winning Media Mining Indexer uses audio input from various sources like radio and TV channels, press agency news feeds, archived media streams etc to produce text output in Real Time. The speech recognition module within the Media Mining Indexer is based on high-end technologies that enable continuous speech recognition in Real Time.
