Vienna, Austria, March 16, 2007: SAIL LABS was awarded with the 2007 European Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Prize in Hanover today for its ROSIDS (Rapid Open Source Intelligence Deployment System). The European ICT Prize is the most distinguished prize for innovative products and services in the field of ICT.
Recognized as the EU's "Nobel Prize" for innovation in information and communication technologies supported by the European Commission, it is awarded to companies for new and imaginative ICT products or services with a promising market potential.
In a two-stage selection process, SAIL LABS's ROSIDS was chosen from a record-breaking list of 450 highly recognized European candidates.
Christoph Prinz, CEO and Founder of SAIL LABS: "We are honoured to receive recognition for our achievements in innovation by a high-profile jury like this. With ROSIDS, a highly innovative technology has been selected: The system processes TV and radio broadcasts in a variety of languages, delivering transcribed and translated subtitles in real-time and in the user's preferred language. Thus, ROSIDS is a unique solution to maintain situational awareness, representing a huge advance in speech recognition and translation technologies".
