Vienna, Austria, October 7, 2007: SAIL LABS Technology, a leading provider of speech technology solutions, today announced the immediate availability of the Russian version of its award-winning Media Mining System. This highly accurate automatic speech transcription system takes the audio input from various sources and creates an indexed, summarized and searchable output in real-time. Advanced features include the Language Model Tool, which enables users to fine-tune the system's language capabilities to address issues such as, e.g., dialect pronunciations, and to add new vocabulary. “The Russian version supplements the list of available important European languages within SAIL LABS’s offers. Given the peculiarities and structure of the Russian language, the development of a speaker-independent Russian ASR engine reflects a revolution in the domain of Russian automatic speech recognition”, says Adi Schmidthuber, Vice President Sales & Marketing at SAIL LABS Technology. “The engine is characterized by an outstanding robust 24/7 performance in recognizing the Russian language and is coupled with a broad vocabulary base of highest quality."
The development of the Russian version was driven by market needs and emphasizes Sail Labs’ focus on Eastern European markets.
The importance of the Russian market is represented by the fact that Russian is the native language of 172 million people and the official language in Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It is widely spoken in some other former Soviet Republics and in many countries of Eastern Europe. Furthermore, the Russian economy is growing at a steady pace, making it and other markets in the region strategically interesting for SAIL LABS.
Typical application areas for the Russian Media Mining System are Broadcast News Indexing for Newsrooms of TV, Radio and Press Agencies and Open Source Intelligence units and Media Observation Organisations.
