Water for the Poor – SAIL LABS supports water well programme in Mozambique

Vienna, Austria, December 24, 2007: Water, that totally essential ingredient of life: Its abundance or scarcity shapes the quality of our lives.
In many third world countries the need for clean, potable water is paramount: Thirty years of guerrilla warfare as well as natural disasters have taken a heavy toll on Mozambique, one of the poorest countries in the world. A lot of Mozambican families are lacking basic health care and clean water: less than half of the population have sustainable access to safe water. In too many communities the water is heavily contaminated by bacteria and parasites. People are often sick, and many children die at an early age from consumption of polluted water.
This Christmas season, after a good year for SAIL LABS, its customers and employees, SAIL LABS has decided to support World Vision’s water project in Mozambique: Starting in June 2008, the project aims at providing safe drinking water to families in the village of Nihessiue in the Murrupula district.
Christoph Prinz, CEO at SAIL LABS said: “As a company with a large number of global activities, we are obliged to perceive what’s going on in this – our –world! We are proud to support this programme in Southeast Africa, which is focussed on drilling wells to provide safe, clean water and reducing waterborne diseases.
As part of the regional Nihessiue development project to educate the community about sanitation and hygiene, the goal is to promote lasting changes that will strengthen communities and move families toward self-reliance.
“We are happy to support World Vision in their efforts to assist the poor,” said Mr. Prinz, ”We regard this step as our small contribution into the future of the world’s humanitarian development and social stability."
